Favorite Things (Holiday Edition)

It all started when I saw a promo for one of Oprah’s Favorite Things episode that was scheduled to air. Like so many viewers, I patiently waited to see what all the fuss was about. Unsurprisingly, that was one of the best hours of television. I immediately knew I had to try something similar to celebrate the holidays with my friends. Now I wasn’t sure if they had seen the episode, or if they would even be interested in such an idea. However, to my delight everyone was game and ready to kick off our first ever Favorite Things party in December 2017. The food was ordered, the wine delivered and the house decorated. Since it was already December, I just added a little flair to my holiday decorations. I would frequent Home Goods and the like, for items that seemed rare, but party worthy.

An Evite was sent out explaining the rules for participation which was very simple. Each guest was asked to bring five (5) of their “favorite things” worth $25 each and they will go home with five (5) new items. Over the years we’ve had different variations of the number of items and the price point. More recently, we’ve raised the price point to $50 and three items.

This party is so much fun. It has quickly become the party of the year for my girlfriends and I, so plan your first Favorites party and cherish every moment spent with your loved ones.
