Fiesta like there’s no Mañana
Hola Muchachas!
Last year I had the pleasure of hosting a Cinco de Mayo gathering for my girlfriends and I. Restrictions were just being lifted and it had been a full year since we’d seen each other in person. Needless to say we were all ready to drink some much needed tequila! Since it was a last minute gathering, I sent a simple invite that I made in Canva via text. I then proceeded to make a mood board with the colors I’d like to use. It’s all in the details ladies.
Decor- I love neutral tones with pops of colors so I rented a set of farm tables and chairs. I then used raffia placemats and other bold table decor to complete the look. Since we were still socially distanced outdoors, the greenery of the outdoors was the backdrop.
Menu- Since I try to keep things as simple as possible, I emailed one of the best caterer in Northwest Indiana that I know. Unfortunately, she wasn’t available but pointed me in the right direction-The Gourmet Goddess, you are the BEST! I called some of my local Mexican restaurants and placed my orders.
Drinks- I absolutely love the Josè Cuervo 1800 Ultimate Margarita in the Watermelon flavor. It’s easy- just rim the glass with salt, add ice and pour. There’s no need to add anything else. It’s so delicious and can be found in any liquor store.
Dessert- Chocolate flan cake is one of my faves. I also served churros and one of my go-to bakers made some specialty fiesta cookies and even delivered on the day of since I was running behind, thanks Sweet Dreams Designer Cookies. We have the best vendors here in The Region. In addition, one of my guests brought cupcakes.
After planning my decor, menu, drinks & desserts, I decided that I wanted a little “something” for my guests to take home with them. I found some mini tequila shots from Casamigos, which I packaged in some clear boxes I found on Amazon.
Not bad for my first Cinco de Mayo soireè, I’d say. Check out my Instagram @theregionandbeyond for more pictures and where to find items. And while you are there, give me a follow. Until next time…
Tequila!
